Therapeutic Approach

My approach is eclectic, applying a variety of theoretical approaches to treating each client depending on the individual's unique needs. I am generally a non-directive practitioner in that my goal is to help clients make decisions themselves regarding treatment issues rather than making those decisions for them.

Treatment Issues

General counseling and psychological evaluation services, including evaluations for adult ADHD.

Treatment Population

Works with adults and senior adults in individual, couples, and family sessions. Offers psychological evaluations services, including testing and diagnosis of adult ADHD.

My Journey

I grew up in Michigan and received my undergraduate degree with a major in psychology from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri, in 1965.  I subsequently moved to Tennessee and earned my Master of Arts Degree in 1967 and my Ph.D. in 1970 from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, both in psychology.  After earning my doctorate, I spent seven years in Memphis before relocating to Chattanooga in 1976. In 1999, I helped establish New Beginnings Counseling Center at its current location.
