Therapeutic ApproachMy approach is eclectic, applying a variety of theoretical approaches to treating each client depending on the individual's unique needs. I am generally a non-directive practitioner in that my goal is to help clients make decisions themselves regarding treatment issues rather than making those decisions for them.

I grew up in Michigan and received my undergraduate
degree with a major in psychology from Culver-Stockton College in Canton,
Missouri, in 1965. I subsequently moved to Tennessee and earned my
Master of Arts Degree in 1967 and my Ph.D. in 1970 from the
University of Tennessee at Knoxville, both in psychology.
After earning my doctorate, I spent seven years in Memphis before relocating to Chattanooga in 1976. In 1999, I helped establish New Beginnings Counseling Center at its current location.
